Greetings to You all in the Name of Our Lord!
It has always been a pleasure for me to keep writing to you. Praise the Lord for enabling us to enter into yet another new month. I offer my sincere prayers to the Almighty God to be with you, at the beginning of this wonderful month of November and bless you according to Psalm 2:12"
"Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him."
In the sixth month the Angel Gabriel was sent from God to the virgin, Mary of Nazareth, and the angel came unto her and said,
"Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women...Fear not,
Mary: for thou hast found favor with God....And, behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring
forth a son, and shall call his name JESUS," Luke 1:28,30 b,31
What a wonderful promise that God has given us this month with the the Advent Season, heralding the arrival of our Lord. This is also going to be the time marking the beginning of the end of the calendar year and the arrival of the new year. We see in that Joseph trusted the Lord at all times; he set his mind and heart before the Lord and waited for Him to fulfill what the Lord has promised him. At the right time, God honored him with success (Gen.39:2) and prosperity. The meditations of November start with the All Saints day, remembering the days of the sacrificial services of all saints of the Church
The Christian world has a great moral and spiritual responsibility to show the love of Christ for the other. The meditations of the Church in the month of November start in the first Sunday with the thoughts of Kudos Etho (the holiness of the Church) for the continuing process of learning the spiritual traditions of the Church and its sanctification by the spiritual transformation, so that we may discern what is the will of God - what is good and acceptable unto God, which is our reasonable service. In the same Sunday, celebrations for the International Sunday School Day are also held, with special emphasis to fulfill the dream of training and making the Children to be the future promises for God. Those of the parents who fervently pray with their children with them could fulfill this dream and vision, rather than praying for them. The biblical theme for Sunday, Nov.12, is Huthos Etho (the revival of the Church) and it hovers around the celebration day of the rainbow unity of the Mar Thoma Church, the CSI and the CNI Churches, which needs constant renewal for effective mission. Without losing the identity of the individual church, beyond a Doctrinal Unity, a unity for the Mission of the Church for the glory of God and the extension of God's Kingdom is the aim of this sort of unity.
The angel's annunciation to Zachariah that his wife Elizabeth will bear him a son and that he should name him John, for he would be great in the sight of the Lord, makes the reading for Sunday, Nov.19, 2017.
The Angel's annunciation to Virgin Mary, that she being the favored one of God would conceive in her womb and bear a son, and she would name a him Jesus. Here we can see that when God is answering the fervent and long time prayers of both Zachariah and Mary, Zachariah asked for a sign which amount to unbelieving the words of the Angel. On the other hand, Mary, while clearing her doubts with the Angel, said "Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word," (Luke 1:38). There is also the case of the uniqueness of a meeting of two people, Elizabeth and Mary, both of whom got the grace and favor of God. Elizabeth was gracious enough to greet Mary with an open mind and exclaim with a loud cry,"Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb," (Luke 1: 42)
Friends, let us be empowered with the power from God to face the challenges of the world with a unified mission spirit of the Church for the glory of God. Romans 10; 12,13 says, " For, every one who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." It is also important to see that God revealed through Christ the loving face of God, and by looking at that unique face of love we will also be illuminated !
